We visited Rothenburg today in this beautiful fall weather. It was granted a town charter in 1172 but its heyday was in the 14th century. It was oh-so-very German with all of the iron work and half-timbered buildings.
We all had such a hardship this weekend. We had to go to a Resiliency Training event for the brigade at Edelweiss Resort. It was a rough time with a beautiful view of the Alps.
Seriously, we had an amazing time going up Zugspitze, which is the tallest peak in Germany, the kiddos went to a Reptile Zoo in Austria and we had the most amazing dinner at La Toscana.
It was an emotional day. Far more than I was anticipating. One of the things we wanted to make a point of doing while living in Europe was taking our children to the memorials of the concentration camps of WWII.
After almost a week in our hotel recovering from jet lag and completing the literally laundry list of things one must do when one moves to a new country, we finally had a chance to walk around town. It was perfect weather and we thoroughly enjoyed our gelato. We are in love with our new home.
